چکیده

The style of engineering computing may change dramatically in the future. Large numbers of agents with local perception of the environment, autonomy, and considerable intelligence will be made to collaborate and form decision-making agents. When agents make correct decisions more often than not with probability p, a cooperation strategy based on simple majority makes the resulting decision-making agent more reliable than the underling agents. However, simple majority does not necessarily improve overall performance if agents have diierent probabilities of being correct. An alternative weight-based cooperation strategy is proposed so as to improve overall performance , and prevent the cooperating agents from being worse than the best member. This paper also tackles the design of such a strategy, derives some theoretical results, and demonstrates the main ideas in an application to face recognition using artiicial neural networks.

Agent Cooperation: Distributed Control Applications

An increasing number of natural and artiicial systems are found to be operated by autonomous agents that achieve performance comparable to those obtained under centralized control. These agents have partial knowledge of the system, make their own decisions, and communicate locally with nearby agents. They are said to operate in autonomous local mode (ALM). The overall performance can be improve...

Assessment of distance-based multi-attribute group decision-making methods from a maintenance strategy perspective

Maintenance has been acknowledged by industrial management as a significant influencing factor of plant performance. Effective plant maintenance can be realized by developing a proper maintenance strategy. However, selecting an appropriate maintenance strategy is difficult because maintenance is a non-repetitive task such as production activity. Maintenance also does not leave a consistent trac...

Identifying the components of universities smart specialization strategy

The strategy for smart specialization university has been one of the main policies of the European Union in recent years to develop regional performance and economic growth through university systems. In spite of this, no research has been done to identify the components of this strategy. Accordingly, this study aimed to identify the components of the smart specialization strategy of higher edu...

A Computational Model for Simulation of Empathy and Moral Behavior

Emotions and feelings are now considered as decisive in the human intelligent decision process. In particular, social emotions would help us to enhance the group and cooperate. It is still a matter of debate the what that motivates biological creatures to cooperate or not with their group. Would all kinds of cooperation hide a selfish interest, or would it exist truly altruism? If we pore over ...

Distributed Reinforcement Learning based onα-domination Strategy for Multi-criteria Decision Making and its Application to Distributed Database Systems

In the distributed systems in which information cannot be exchanged directly among agents, we deal with problems of deciding how each agent holds the shared resource. To achieve a lot of tasks greedily, agents tend to attempt to hold the resources for a long term. However the system performance decreases consequentially because it competes with the processing of other agents’ tasks. To acquire ...
